Fiberglass Pipe Insulation Easy Order Guide
Insulations are great for a number of reasons. Installing insulations in a home or business can be a viable investment towards reducing future energy bills, reducing the cost of HVAC repairs, and also improving the overall comfort provided by the indoor space.
Insulations are a great investment that should be looked into by all homeowners and commercial property owners. There are different types of insulation materials that can be chosen from when considering the move to insulate a property.
One of the top materials for insulating buildings is fiberglass pipe insulation. To aid your ordering process, we have created charts below that will guide you in determining the actual size of the fiberglass pipe insulation to order for your insulation project needs.
Below are two charts, each of the charts have been created for different types of piping. Consumers who are interested in the copper pipe should consult with the copper pipe chart for their copper piping needs while those who favor the iron piping should consult the iron pipe chart for their non-copper piping needs.
The iron pipe chart is also suitable for other materials including Black, Iron, PVC, Sch 40/80, CPVC, and more.
The chart below is detailed to list the pipe size, the outside diameter measurement of the iron or copper pipe, the circumference around the pipe, as well as the appropriate size to order.

The Copper pipes E-Chart has become important because more online stores list pipe size in Nominal Pipe Sizes which can make the entire ordering process confusing to buyers. With the size chart above, buyers can properly reference the size needed to get their fiberglass insulation installation done.
How to use the chart
1. Identify whether you have a copper pipe or not. If you have the copper pipe, reference the copper E-size chart, otherwise consult the Iron E-size chart.
2. Identify the pipe label. Copper pipes are usually labeled in ink, PVC and CPVC are also labeled in ink while iron and black pipe usually have labels on.
3. For pipes that have no identification, the measurement can be done in three ways
- With the use of a pipe caliper
- Measurement of the pipe’s outside diameter
- Measurement of the pipe’s circumference.
